About Us

The Rotary Club of Bombay Chembur West (RCBCW) was chartered on May 16, 1990 and has just turned 32 years of age. This club is not just youthful in age but in its character as well - it boasts robustness, enthusiasm and high energy levels like any healthy young adult!

RCBCW takes pride in having been chartered by a woman charter president, Dr. Vinodini Pradhan.

The club has always been involved with varied community service activities related to literacy, environmental protection, senior citizens, women, healthcare, youth and children. The club has always been proactive to community concerns such as polio, rural health, rural cleanliness and basic amenities like water, education and health.

The growth of RCBCW has been healthy and steady. The membership is cultured and includes families with honest values and ethics. RCBCW has always upheld and stood up to the Rotary ideals and embodies in its conscience the four way test.

RCBCW is a cosmopolitan club, both professionally and linguistically. It has a bag of 32 past presidents and draws professionals from various fields like Medicine, Accountancy, Audit, Law, Software and Information Technology, Education and Academics, Agriculture, Management and Heath, Pharma, Jewellery, Logistics and Food Processing. As of date, we have 43 dedicated members on board.

RCBCW has been developing and maintaining a 5000 sq. feet "Rotary Garden", at 16th Road, at our Rotary Service Centre that boasts of medicinal plants, a unique Navagruha plant unit and a Butterfly park as some of its highlights. While senior citizens of Chembur can enjoy some peace and quiet here; a section of the garden has been developed for children with special needs.

RCBCW has installed equipment uniquely designed for special children. There are about six schools for special children in and around Chembur who make good use of this facility and currently, this garden caters to more than 2000 such children, with 70-80 children accompanied by parents visiting the play area every day. This project has brought immense joy to special children, as it is one of its kind in Chembur.
